Dorset park hosts heroes challenge

03/03/2021

Hangers Heroes is a Dorset charity who fundraise for small, local charities who otherwise struggle for funding.

The Heroes Challenge is a 10k, half or full marathon walk or run, almost exclusively off road, taking in some of the best views Dorset has to offer. The event is limited to 500 participants

Each year, Bagwell Farm Touring Park hosts the main fundraising event for Hangers Heroes and the event starts and finishes at the touring park. Runners and walkers then head out along The Fleet and the course follows coastal national trails and bridal paths to Abbotsbury, passing the Swannery, Monastery and St Catharine’s chapel. The undulating course is almost exclusively off-road and, whilst being challenging and rewarding, allows competitors to also enjoy the fantastic local scenery.

This year the event takes place on Sunday 3 October, and participants are provided with a hot meal at the finish as well as a medal and goody bag. They're also welcome to camp before/after the event and Bagwell Farm offers a special rate for those taking part in the challenge.

2021 charities supported by the fundraising include Dorset Search and Rescue, Dorset Mind, Stella Hayward Riding for the Disabled, Westfield Arts College, The Front Skate Park and The Veterans Hub.
