New modern amenities block at award-winning Cornish holiday park
A new amenities block, featuring modern underfloor heating, will be opening in time for summer 2020 for campers at Cornwall’s award-winning Heligan Caravan and Camping Park.
The block has been specially designed for the campsite by Cornwall-based architects, The Bazeley Partnership, and its design reflects the high standards of the park, as well as built to blend in with the Grade II Heligan Park and Gardens.
The new facilities replace an outdated amenity block and are fitted with underfloor heating throughout each section of the building to ensure user comfort all year round. Natural ventilation and daylight is provided by high-level glazing around the building. To boost the park's dog-friendly credentials, there will be an external dog shower, as well as a drying room, perfect for after a muddy walk along the South West Coastal Path.
The changing and amenities facility will include seven private family rooms with generous walk-in showers, WC, basin and mirror and one accessible family room, equipped with a toilet, basin and a walk-in shower, as well as male and female changing areas, each with two large showers, toilet facilities, changing benches and mirrors. Adjoining the main amenity building, there will also be a launderette, drying room, washing up area and external dog shower.
Nicole Murray, Marketing and Sales Manager for Heligan Caravan and Camping Park, said: "Our new amenity block has been built with design in mind, blending in with the natural surroundings, built with natural timber cladding and metal. The underfloor heating will be more comfortable for guests, particularly during the colder months as the campsite is open all year round, and the dog shower will ensure every member of the family is happy!"
Heligan Campsite offers 17 holiday homes in addition to well-maintained grass and hardstanding pitches for camping, caravans and motorhomes. The park is dog friendly, with five of its holiday homes suitable for canine companions.
