Scotland beach, with Premier Park campsite right next door, crowned one of Britain's best beaches

A stunning beach in the Highlands of Scotland has been named as one of The Times' top 50 beaches in Britain.

The annual 50 best British beaches guide is compiled by the paper's chief travel editor who visited more than 800 beaches around the UK’s coast.

Big Sand, near Gairloch, which was also selected as the overall regional winner for Scotland, is a sheltered, south-facing beach which was praised for its “dramatic views of Skye and the Torridon Mountains”, and for having a good-value campsite nearby.

That campsite is one of our Premier Parks group members, Sands Caravan & Camping. You can choose a sheltered spot among the sand dunes for your motorhome, caravan or tent, or a raised pitch with unrivalled views. For something a bit different there are wigwam cabins, plus five holiday caravan homes. The site has a seasonal shop, a licensed cafe/restaurant and a games room.

Sands is an ideal base to explore Wester Ross, with the famous Torridon mountains to the south, plus many other walks in the area. Find out more about the high-quality campsite, here.
