Spotlight on: Briarfields Touring Park

Cheltenham has something for everyone.

A spacious Regency spa town with attractive Georgian buildings, superb parks and gardens, lots of speciality shops and an amazing choice of eating places. Coupled to eight horse races, 10-day cricket, music and literary festivals and many more art, poetry and food festivals, there is something going on all the time. Pittville Park with its lake, gardens and café are lovely to while away some time and there is the pump room where you can still enjoy the spa water.

When visiting the area, we stay at Briarfields; buses outside the entrance go from Cheltenham to Gloucester every 10 minutes during the day and, from early to late, you can be in the town in 15 minutes.

This is an adults-only site with 72 hardstanding pitches, of which five are fully serviced. It has central, spotlessly clean heated washrooms, several water, grey water and toilet emptying points and a drive-over motorhome waste point, a dishwashing area and laundry room. Electricity is 10A, with free WiFi and TV reception. There can be some road noise and light aircraft use the nearby airfield during the day.

We also love Gloucester where the development of the historic docks area has given the city a new lease of life. As well as the marina, Mariners Chapel, Soldiers of Gloucestershire and National Waterways Museum, there is the Quays shopping centre and a good choice of eating places. In the city is a shop celebrating Beatrix Potter, plus the magnificent cathedral, with superb stained-glass windows and cloisters, made famous by Harry Potter.
