Spotlight on: Castle Brake
Castle Brake is set in woodland close to Woodbury Common near to the beaches of east Devon.
We chose it as our base to visit friends in nearby Woodbury, exploring the rolling hills and unspoilt coastline with our children and dogs! While here we hoped to do plenty of walking with the dogs and the beautiful countryside did not disappoint.
We visited in peak season and, although the site was fully booked, we experienced no noise or overcrowding at all. The main facilities block provided showers with plenty of room, as well as hairdryers and ample mirror space. The chemical disposal, recycling, launderette and washing -up facilities were all found at this one services block. The play park was popular with children with a grassy area surrounding where we were able to enjoy a game of badminton.
There are two, mainly level touring fields offering spacious hardstanding pitches, each with water, electric and grey water drainage. A further grass field had some hardstanding pitches, electric and a centralised water tap.
While in the area we enjoyed days out at the Donkey Sanctuary, Crealy Adventure Park and the beaches of Exmouth and Sidmouth. We enjoyed the quiet atmosphere of Castle Brake and, if we choose to visit this area again, we will certainly return.
