Spotlight on: Shamba Holidays
Shamba is perfect for family holidays or perhaps treating the grandchildren to a weekend away, as it’s got great facilities for kids as well as for adults.
For starters, there’s a 40ft heated indoor/outdoor swimming pool that’s connected to the clubhouse, so adults can relax at the poolside while kids safely splash in the pool. This has a separate paddling pool for toddlers, and it is also possible to book swimming lessons. In summer, in good weather, the retractable walls and roof are removed so the area becomes a sun terrace.
The clubhouse is also family friendly and offers a licenced bar and restaurant, and there’s often events on like family quizzes, karaoke and live entertainment. There’s also a games room next to the clubhouse, which has a couple of pool tables and some arcade games. Reception is also located here, where you’ll find a reasonably well-stocked shop and tourist information leaflets on what to do and see in the local area. There’s a children’s play area centrally located within the campsite (which has the usual swings, slides, climbing frame, etc) while good paths mean children can also ride bikes around the site.
The amenities block is positioned next to the park, which offers toilet and shower facilities with underfloor heating and a disabled room. There is also a useful washing-up room plus a laundrette and – for motorhomers – there is a chemical and grey waste disposal point. Shamba Holidays also welcomes pets and has a large dog-walking field.
Of course, you’re only a short drive from both the New Forest and the Dorset coast if you fancy heading out on a longer walk, too. Other local attractions include Go Ape and Peppa Pig World!
