Spotlight on: Shepherds Views Holidays

Situated on Cumbria’s west coast, Shepherds Views Holidays is a picturesque campsite set in 210 acres of farmland.

Check-in is at a small reception, where you can buy basic camping equipment items and there is also a camper’s fridge/freezer here.

The site has several fields with an access track running up to the highest one. The majority of motorhome pitches are on the top field and this is where you will find the hardstanding and fully serviced pitches, which are well maintained and spaced out. The second field from the top is a grass one for tents, there is a third small caravan field near the reception and a larger field below this for tents only and with two camping pods. The grass on site is well cut and the whole site is well landscaped with good views from most of the pitches – particularly the higher ones.

The facilities are small, but clean and tidy and well looked after. There is a single toilet in an old stone barn left of reception with the main facilities being around the corner from the reception building. These are unisex and consist of three toilets and two washing cubicles as well as two showers and a disabled shower/toilet. There is a covered washing-up area to the right of reception. The site has fire pits where open fires are allowed and logs and kindling can be purchased. A dog walk is located at the bottom of the lower field.

There is a lovely sandy beach nearby and plenty of decent-sized Lakeland mountains within an easy drive, including England’s highest mountain, Scafell Pike. Muncaster Castle is a short drive away and close to it you will find the Ravenglass and Eskdale Railway, one of the oldest and longest narrow-gauge railways in England.
