Spotlight on: Sun Haven Holiday Park

19/08/2021

As an escape from some of the more bustling holiday parks that populate Cornwall, especially around the Newquay area, Sun Haven is the ideal choice.

The park is just a 20-minute walk from the sandy beach at Mawgan Porth, where you’ll find a car park, a few shops, cafés and takeaways.

For longer walks you can access the South West Coast Path at the beach and head north to the National Trust’s Bedruthan Steps (1½ miles) or south to Newquay (5½ miles) and beyond. One mile inland is St Mawgan village where there is a pub serving food, a tea room and a Japanese Garden with beautiful plants and water features.

The site offers hardstanding pitches with electric hook-up, in a touring area separate from the static caravans. In keeping with the relaxed retreat vibe, there are no clubhouse or games room-type amenities; however, there are still a host of facilities. These include toilets and showers, with hair dryers and straighteners provided, a laundry room and a shop, plus dog showers, a wetsuit wash and even herb gardens.

If you have children with you, they will enjoy the play area and magical fairy garden. A recent addition is the new coffee shop offering pastries, hot drinks and cream teas, etc, next to a communal firepit area, which makes for a nice social space.

For exploring further afield, a bus service collects from the gate and can take you to Newquay or Padstow.
