A trio of gold awards for Somerset Premier Park

06/12/2022

On 1 December, at the Winter Gardens in Weston Super Mare, the winners of the 2022/23 Bristol, Bath and Somerset Tourism Awards were announced. More than 50 finalists attended a black tie gala dinner where every winning business was presented with their award.

Coming away with three gold awards on the night was Long Hazel Park, an adult-only campsite and touring park near Sparkford, in south Somerset. The site received gold in the categories of Camping and Caravanning Park of the Year, and Ethical, Responsible and Sustainable Tourism. The third award came from nominations by the judges and other tourism businesses within Somerset and saw Long Hazel receiving the Winner of Winners award.

These recent awards add to a growing list of accolades for the site, which include gold and silver awards in 2019/20, 2020/21 and 2021/22 at the Bristol, Bath and Somerset Tourism Awards, five stars from VisitEngland in 2021, and four David Bellamy Blooming Marvellous Pledges for Nature this year.

Long Hazel Park is owned and run by Alan and Pamela Walton. Commenting on their awards success, Pamela said: "We really can't believe our little business, and our home, has been announced as the region's best! We would like to thank our fantastic customers, the sponsors, and organisers of the awards, for continuing to encourage us and for supporting us in our sector. We're looking forward to a great Christmas and new year, with more guests than ever joining us in Somerset and some exciting plans for 2023!"
