#1 Bath Fringe Festival, Bath
24 May to 9 June

More than 200 events take place at this historic Georgian city during the Bath Fringe Festival. You can look forward to theatre productions, circus artists, comedy, exhibitions, film screenings, workshops for children, and live music taking place.

#2 Hay Festival, Hay-on-Wye, Powys
23 May to 2 June

This world renowned festival has talks, interviews and readings with some of the country’s top authors, politicians, poets and comedians. The bank holiday weekend alone will see the likes of Bear Grylls, Ray Mears, Susie Dent, Mary Berry and Rob Delaney all take to the stage. There's also live music from The Proclaimers and comedy sets from Tom Allen and Dara Ó Briain.

#3 Malton Food Lovers Festival, Malton, North Yorkshire
25 to 27 May

One for the foodies, excite your tastebuds with produce from the town that bills itself as Yorkshire’s ‘food capital’. The Malton Food Lovers Festival features hundreds of food stalls and mouthwatering locally-sourced street food. You can watch demonstrations by celebrity chefs, take a cookery lesson, or enjoy some live music that runs throughout the day.

#4 Bristol Walk Fest, Bristol
1 May to 31 May

Explore the best of Bristol on foot this bank holiday. Follow guided walks through Bristol’s green spaces and historic city streets. Admire its art and architecture. #5 Suffolk Show, Trinity Park, Ipswich
29 & 30 May
