Meet the team: Little Satmar Holiday Park
05/05/2026
Little Satmar Holiday Park is a lovely, well maintained, peaceful park, with facilities designed for comfort and convenience. The site is a short walk to great sea views atop the white cliffs, and there is a regular bus service to visit Folkestone, Dover and further afield. Little Satmar is based a short drive between the port of Dover and LeShuttle, making a convenient stopover for campers travelling to and from the Continent.
We had a chat with park managers, Peter and Angela, about life working at Little Satmar…
How long have you been running the campsite?
Last year was our fourth season as managers of Little Satmar.
Tell us about the park and how it first began
The park was purchased by Keat Farm back in the mid-nineties. Keat Farm had always had a close relationship with the previous owners and regularly supplied them with holiday homes. The owners approached Keat Farm about buying the park. Since then, Keat Farm has strived to improve the park year on year.
What did you do before becoming managers?
I (Peter) was previously a groundsman for Keat Farm. Starting in 2011, I spent five years at Little Satmar and then five years at Hawthorn Farm. Angela worked in retail at a hardware store before moving here as manager.
What made you want to run a campsite?
I thought it would be a good opportunity to further my career and become the manager of a park. Plus, I had the additional bonus of being able to work with my partner.
What do you like most about being a manager?
It is great to meet and chat with the visitors from various countries like Germany, the Netherlands, Switzerland, etc.

What are the challenges?
We work hard to keep the high standard of park maintenance consistent so the park is tidy for our visitors. Also, always being there for any assistance to our customers for any possible questions or problems.
What is a typical day like for you?
My role is primarily based out on the park working alongside our groundsman. It can be either grass cutting, hedge trimming, strimming or maintenance of the flower beds. I also do office work. Taking bookings, answering phone calls and emails, serving customers in our shop and seeing tourers in as they arrive.
What do you feel makes your site special?
Little Satmar is a quiet and peaceful park and just a short walk to the scenic views across the English Channel and walks along the white cliffs. Where we are located is a short drive from either the Port of Dover or the Channel Tunnel, so we are an ideal stopover for people visiting the Continent or visitors just arriving into the UK.
What do you love about the region you are based in?
Being based in Kent, there are plenty of places to visit around the southeast coastline. Folkestone, Deal, Walmer and Hythe are always nice places to visit. Folkestone Harbour Arm is a vibrant place to visit during the summer months, often having local live bands playing various music, and plenty of places to eat and drink. Plus, during the winter it has a growing Christmas market that is always nice to visit.
How do you like to spend your time on your days off?
We love to get out and about around Kent. Attending any events that are on, like country shows, craft markets, food events. Plus visiting various places along the beautiful coastline of Kent.
