Riverside Caravan and Camping Park celebrates its 20th birthday!

07/01/2026

Based in north Devon, just south of Exmoor National Park, Riverside Caravan and Camping Park has been welcoming guests for 20 years, building a well-earned reputation for brilliant family holidays.

In 2026, the campsite celebrates its twentieth birthday and will host a series of commemorative special events throughout the year, enabling its guests to join in the celebrations. Having just joined Premier Parks in 2026, Riverside has already won plenty of awards and is highly regarded by guests as a brilliant touring park, particularly in such a competitive area.

This success can be attributed to the impressive development the campsite’s owners have undertaken and the family values that have been the foundation of everything Riverside does, right from day one.

Rooted in family values

When owners, Joe and Nicky, first broke ground on building Riverside Caravan & Camping Park, their children, Francesca and Hamileen, were right there with them, shovels in hand.

“This place was our playground, our home and our future,” say the siblings. “Watching it become what it is today has been incredible.”

That playground was initially a 70-acre stretch of farmland, a scrap yard and a good dollop of Devonshire mud. With a shared vision for a family holiday oasis in the stunning local countryside, this ambitious family set about building a campsite from scratch.

First to be built were the house, a small shop and the first shower block, as well as a road laid down to improve accessibility and a storage compound. With these amenities in place, Riverside Caravan & Camping Park opened its gates in 2006, and guests have been arriving in droves ever since!

In the past two decades, Joe, Nicky and the family have developed the campsite with extra pitches, a second shower block, luxury holiday homes, an outdoor adventure play area for children, a restaurant/bar, and much more. There’s even a series of fishing lakes, created since Hamileen developed a passion for angling – just one example of this being a campsite founded on family values.

A touring haven

Plenty of guests return year after year to this Premier Park, thanks in part to the enviable touring facilities that Riverside has established.

While the campsite opened with a storage facility for returning guests, demand increased to the point that a larger compound was developed in 2013 and then redeveloped just over a decade later, receiving a CaSSOA Platinum Rating in 2024. There’s also a dedicated leisure vehicle workshop, manned by Less, the park’s caravan service engineer.

Coupled with the superb pitches and amenities that Riverside boasts, this Devonshire campsite has developed into a brilliant destination for tourers in the past 20 years.

Celebrate in style

The continuous improvement that has defined Riverside isn’t slowing down, even as owners, Joe and Nicky, start to pass the reins to Francesca and Hamileen.

“We want to stay true to our roots while embracing the future. We’re investing in experiences that are sustainable, memorable and meaningful – for families now and for generations to come, just like our grandparents did for us.”

You can expect to see new luxury holiday homes, new pitches, accessible fishing lakes, multi-generational spaces and a packed calendar of special events, so you can join in the celebrations!

There’s a dizzying array of themed events at Riverside Caravan & Camping Park in 2026, including the 20th Anniversary Weekend during the August Bank Holiday. Expect live music, children’s entertainment, great food and much more!
