Spotlight on: Back of Beyond Touring Park, Dorset

02/08/2023

We were after an adult-only tranquil campsite with access to both the New Forest and the Jurassic Coast. On the Dorset/Hampshire border, Back of Beyond fit that requirement.

The site is set in 30 acres of private parkland and woodland with two lakes and plenty of walks (including dog-friendly ones). There are benches conveniently located here and there, so it’s easy to enjoy a relaxing stroll and do a spot of wildlife watching.

There is a selection of pitches including fully serviced hardstandings with 10A electric, and there are heated toilet and shower blocks and an accessible suite, reached by a permanent ramp. The reception shop stocks an array of local produce.

An added bonus for a relaxing evening is the site’s own Monty’s Bar. Situated near the pretty pond, the outdoor bar has plenty of seating and heaters for chillier nights.

The nearest pub to the site is just under a mile away; however, from April to September a different local catering van visits the site each night. You can also pre-order croissants and baguettes, and even charcuterie platters and afternoon teas!

As well as walking in the New Forest, we visited Lulworth Cove. It’s about a 30-minute drive. There is a large car park with motorhome-specific parking. £20 allows you to park all day.
