Spotlight on: Bath Chew Valley Caravan Park, Somerset

02/12/2025

Bath Chew Valley Caravan Park can only be described as a true gem, nestled in the peaceful Somerset countryside.

The site offers a tranquil, adults-only retreat just a short drive from the historic city of Bath, and also close to Wells. Having recently visited the site, I was genuinely impressed by the standard of the facilities and an attention to detail that makes this AA and VisitEngland five-star rated touring park stand out from the rest.

The site itself is immaculate — beautifully landscaped with well-maintained pitches, mature trees, and colourful flower beds that give it a peaceful, garden-like feel. It’s clear the owners take great pride in the site’s presentation. The little ornamental pond is a lovely spot and to secure the pitch next door would be like hitting the jackpot!

The facilities are top-notch, with spotless, all-in-one individual shower rooms, a well-equipped laundry room, and a warm, welcoming reception. Pitches are hardstanding with electric, and fully serviced options are available. There is also a motorhome service point.

One of the standout features of Bath Chew is its proximity to Chew Valley Lake and Country Park, just a short walk from the site. The lake is a haven for birdwatchers, walkers, and nature lovers, with scenic trails and a charming tea room nearby. For anglers, the lake offers some of the best trout fishing in the region.

Bath is only a 25-minute drive away, or easily reached via public transport from the village of Bishop Sutton, which is only a 10-minute walk away. There’s also a pub in the village, The Red Lion, and a shop. Bath Chew also offers car hire if that option is preferable. Exploring the Roman Baths, Royal Crescent and quirky independent shops of Bath will be a definite highlight of any trip. There’s also Wells, Wookey Hole and Cheddar Gorge within an easy drive.

What makes Bath Chew truly special is the peace it offers. It’s perfect for couples or solo travellers looking to unwind and enjoy the countryside without sacrificing comfort. Whether you’re using it as a base to explore Somerset or simply to relax, it's a beautifully run site. So, in agreement with the AA and VisitEngland, it’s also five stars from me.
