Spotlight on: Damage Barton, Devon

Mortehoe is a friendly and popular village with beautiful coastal walks to Lee Bay, Morte Point, Bull Point Lighthouse and even on to Ilfracombe and beyond.

The village has a couple of good pubs that do food, a Grade I listed church, a takeaway and a village store, plus other attractions.

Damage Barton belongs to the Lethbridge family who live here and run the site and farm. The site has a lovely spacious feel and lots of fantastic views across fields and to the sea. The pitches are very well spaced and canine companions are well catered for with a field for dog walking. There are also picnic and kite-flying areas.

There are two toilet/shower blocks on the site, which are excellent. Both are modern, roomy and clean. The blocks also contain a family bathroom and a disabled bathroom. Along with a roomy dishwashing area/laundry, there is a wetsuit washroom. There is also a well-stocked shop on site. The site was busy during our stay but never felt crowded or noisy and everyone we met seemed laid-back and friendly – campers and staff alike.

The site is very well maintained and there are no access issues getting to and from it. Right outside the site is a bus stop for trips to Woolacombe and Ilfracombe. You really couldn’t ask for more and we will be back soon.
