Spotlight on: Plassey Holiday Park, Wales

This is a great site for all the family as there are so many facilities to enjoy.

Take a swim in the beautiful 12m swimming pool, open seven days a week, with indoor and outdoor lounge area, and coffee machine.

Also undercover is a badminton court and a games room. The golf course is a must for the professionals or amateurs, alongside a pitch and putt and, for beginners, lessons are available on the driving range.

For the hikers there are many nature trails in the two-mile walk around the 250-acre site. We were there in November and were treated to a stunning display of autumn colours. Also, for dog walkers, there is a separate exercise area.

You can also take your fishing kit to the fishing pond. Or stay close by and enjoy a cuppa and snack in the lovely café. In the Haybank Clubhouse, meals are also served during the day and in the evenings at the weekend. There is a restaurant on site, but it was closed during our visit.

For the shoppers, there are several craft shops selling handmade goods, a brewery and a museum to explore. There’s also a small shop selling food and camping essentials. A farm shop can be found just a few minutes from the site.

On the campsite, the pitches are set in different areas. Most are fully serviced and can accommodate various sizes of outfits. The facilities are clean, but a little dated, with showers and toilets, including an accessible washroom. My husband, Ian, is disabled and found the facilities a little awkward. There was no lock on the door from inside, also no hooks to hang clothes on, and the safety alarm was not visible. He has told the reception and it is being looked into.

Other facilities include a washing-up area and a laundry room. The recycling area is at the entrance of the park and can be quite a walk from some pitches. If you have difficulty in walking just tell reception and someone will help you. All the staff are brilliant, anything you want just ask.
