Spotlight on: South Lytchett Manor Caravan & Camping Park

If you like the finer things in life, South Lytchett won’t disappoint, and it’s not just the grand entrance gates to this award-winning site that impress.

South Lytchett has a host of awards to its name – an AA five-star platinum award and VisitEngland five-star gold rating with a quality score of 98% in both schemes. The Dorset Tourism Awards crowned the site silver for Camping & Caravanning Park of the Year, too. The washrooms are Diamond Loo of the Year awarded, the site has been recognised for its commitment to support wildlife, and for its business excellence.

Located close to the Dorset coast, four miles from Poole, the site offers serviced hardstanding pitches, each with electric hook-up, tap water, grey water disposal and TV hook-up. There is a motorhome waste point on site, plus a well-stocked shop that includes a takeaway café and bakery.

For eating out, there are two local pubs within walking distance – one is St Peter’s Finger, which offers campsite guests a free bottle of wine with two adult meals purchased.

Facilities at South Lytchett include showers, privacy cubicles, family and accessible rooms, a laundry and adventure playground. Dogs are very welcome and there is a large off-lead dog walking field and dog wash.

Locally you can explore Upton Country Park, or hop on the bus from the site entrance to Bournemouth, Poole, Wareham and Corfe Castle. There are plenty of walking routes and cycle hire is available on site.

I took a little trip into Poole where there are a variety of places to eat, several museums, a wildlife-rich harbour area and impressive quayside.

I also enjoyed exploring the site’s 22-acres of parkland, and found a lovely woodland area and pond where I made friends with some ducks.

The other great thing about this site is that there are also some quirky glamping options for if you want to holiday with non-motorhoming friends. The Romany caravans and stargazing yurts looked particularly extra-special.
