Spotlight on: St Ives Bay Holiday Park, Cornwall

06/05/2018

Nestling amid rolling sand dunes and with direct access to its own private beach, St Ives Bay Holiday Park is a very special place.

The focus here is firmly on families – yet it’s also a great place for a quiet holiday just for two.

With three miles of golden sand and spectacular sea views from many of the pitches, you may wonder what else anyone could want from a holiday. If you want peace and tranquillity, you’ve found it here. If you want full-on family fun, you’ve found that, also. Yet the fun element is far away from those superb seaview pitches that are the closest to the beach. So you can feel remote.

Or you can feel energised by the prospect of swimming every day in the indoor pool, learning to surf (there’s a surf school on site) or a game of tennis. Entertainment and eating opportunities are comprehensive. Two programmes of entertainment run from Whitsun to early September in the Dynamite Bar. The adults-only Sands Bar, overlooking the ocean, has a sun terrace (sunsets are spectacular from here), and the Bay Bistro serves meals and takeaways starting with breakfast.

Away from the park, there’s a plethora of beaches to explore – and St Ives, the jewel in Cornwall’s substantial tourist crown, is a short drive away. There’s an immense choice of places to eat and galleries and shops to browse in this quaint, whitewashed fishing-village-resort that curves around a beautiful beach.
