Some of the best things about Devon

Nature at its best
Devon is blessed with an abundance of natural beauty.
From the rugged cliffs of the Jurassic Coast to the tranquil
moors of Dartmoor National Park, there is no shortage of
breathtaking landscapes to explore. Wander ancient woodlands,
alongside babbling rivers, or visit golden sandy beaches.
Coastal bliss
Devon boasts some of the most beautiful coastal scenery in the UK.
With a varied coastline you can choose from pristine beaches and charming fishing villages. Beaches range from surf-havens such as Croyde Bay to those ideal for beachcombing like the sandy shores of Bigbury-on-Sea.
Family-friendly fun
It's a fantastic destination for families.
Take your little ones on a nature trail, build sandcastles on the beach, or embark on a cycling adventure along the Tarka Trail. With numerous family attractions and adventure parks nearby, Devon ensures that children of all ages are well catered for.
Outdoor pursuits
Devon is a paradise for outdoor enthusiasts.
The region offers an array of activities, including hiking,
mountain biking, kayaking, and horseback riding. Embark on a
scenic coastal walk along the South West Coast Path, test your
skills on the trails of Exmoor, or explore the picturesque Tamar
Valley on a cycling expedition.
Local delights
Try Devon's traditional delights, a foodie paradise.
Indulge in traditional cream teas, sample freshly caught seafood, or visit the local farmers' markets to taste the best of Devon's produce. Many campsites are situated close to charming villages and towns where you can explore local pubs, cafes, and restaurants.
Hit the beach!
Woolacombe beach is one of the best in Britain.
Woolacombe's beaches dunes and cliffs provide shelter - and also give you the chance to take a walk above the beach, to appreciate its beauty. The vast expanse of sand means it never feels crowded and the sea is welcoming for all ages, especially on a hot day.
Take a trip back in time
Visit the unique, traffic-free, cobble-paved fishing village of Clovelly.
Clovelly has one steep main street and no cars are allowed, so the 200 residents use sledges made of robust plastic boxes lashed to wooden frames to drag everything from the top of the hill where they park their cars. You leave with a clear idea of what life was once like here.
Experience island life
Boats, islands and beautiful ocean views
For a real chance to get away from it all, take a boat trip out to Lundy, a tiny, tranquil island off the Devon coast, owned by the National Trust. Birdwatching and walking are the number one activities here - and a visit is a truly memorable experience.
City life
Exeter is full of great character and ancient history.
The Roman city walls of Exeter surround the centre and Gothic Exeter Cathedral is magnificent. Exeter Castle, overlooks leafy Northernhay and Rougemont Gardens. There are vaulted, medieval underground passages snaking beneath the city, too. The historic Exeter Quayside is a lovely place to enjoy al-fresco food and drink.
